Property Damage Guarantee
Host with confidence. If a Renter damages your space during a confirmed booking, we’ve got your back.
These Guarantee Terms are part of and supplement our Terms of Service. Only bookings completed through the Platform qualify — bookings arranged off-platform are ineligible. Questions? Contact support@catalanilocations.com.
- Floors, carpets, and rugs damaged by Renters or attendees
- Furniture owned by the Host and located in the space
- Host-owned production equipment (lighting, audio gear, etc.)
- Appliances, fixtures, and improvements within the booked space
- Walls, ceilings, built-in shelving, and structural elements of the interior
- Personal property owned by the Host that is located in the booked space
- Damage caused during the confirmed booking window by Renters or their attendees or vendors
- Normal wear and tear, deterioration, rust, mold, or pre-existing damage
- Damage caused by smoking, vaping, or gross negligence
- Criminal acts or intentional damage by a Renter or attendee
- Damage occurring after the booking’s end time
- Acts of nature (earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, etc.)
- Motor vehicles, watercraft, aircraft, or their parts
- Electronic data, software, or digital media
- Firearms, cash, securities, or credit instruments
- Animals, birds, or fish
- Fine art or valuables that cannot be replaced with like-kind items
- Land or real property beyond the booked space’s interior
- Mysterious disappearance or unexplained inventory loss
- Bookings arranged outside the Platform

- Personal property (furniture, equipment, décor): reimbursed at actual cost of repair or replacement at time of damage, up to the item limit.
- Space damage (floors, walls, fixtures): reimbursed at actual repair/replacement cost if repaired within a reasonable timeframe, or actual cash value if not repaired.
- Pairs or sets: if one item in a matched set is damaged, Catalani Locations may elect to repair or replace the damaged piece, or pay the difference in actual cash value before and after the damage.
- Deductions: any amount already received from the Renter (via security deposit, direct payment, or insurance) is deducted from the Guarantee payout. The Guarantee covers the gap, not a double payment.
- Materials matching: replacement materials will be matched to the quality of the damaged property at the time of damage — not upgraded.
To be eligible for reimbursement under the Guarantee, Hosts must follow the steps below carefully. Missing any requirement may result in the claim being declined.
The Guarantee does not eliminate the Renter’s responsibility for damage — it ensures the Host gets paid even when collection from a Renter is difficult. Catalani Locations may pursue reimbursement from the Renter after paying out a Host claim.
- Renters are fully liable for all damage caused to a listing during their booking by themselves, their crew, attendees, vendors, or performers.
- Catalani Locations reserves the right to charge the Renter’s payment method on file for documented damage costs, up to the full repair or replacement value.
- Accepting a payout under the Guarantee does not prevent Catalani Locations from pursuing the Renter for the full amount of damage — the Guarantee does not cap the Renter’s liability.
- Renters whose bookings result in damage claims may have future bookings restricted or their account suspended pending review.
The following conditions must be met for a Host to be eligible for the Guarantee. Failure to meet any of these conditions may result in a claim being declined or the Host being disqualified from the program.
- The booking must have been completed through the Catalani Locations Platform. Off-platform bookings are ineligible regardless of circumstances.
- The Host must be in good standing — no active violations of the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or these Guarantee Terms at the time of the claim.
- The damage must have occurred during the confirmed booking window, not before or after.
- The Host must maintain their own property insurance as required by the Terms of Service. The Guarantee does not replace this obligation.
- The Host must not have instructed, encouraged, or conspired with any party to cause the damage, and must not have concealed or misrepresented any facts related to the claim.
- Upon receipt of a Guarantee payout, the Host waives all further claims against Catalani Locations for that damage. The Host may still pursue the Renter directly for any uncovered amounts.
- The Guarantee applies only to the time, space, and conditions specified in the confirmed booking.
The integrity of the Guarantee depends on honest claims. Catalani Locations takes fraud and misrepresentation seriously and investigates all claims thoroughly.
- The Guarantee is void if the Host has intentionally concealed or misrepresented any fact related to the claim, engaged in fraudulent conduct, or made false statements — at any point before or after a loss.
- Hosts found to have submitted fraudulent or inflated claims will be permanently disqualified from the Guarantee, have their account suspended or terminated, and may face financial penalties or legal action.
- Catalani Locations may cooperate with law enforcement in cases of suspected fraud.
- Renters who are found to have provided false information about their booking or activities, leading to a damage claim, face the same consequences.
Catalani Locations reserves the right to update, amend, suspend, or terminate the Guarantee at any time by providing written notice (including via email). Continuing to use the Platform after any modification constitutes acceptance of the updated Guarantee Terms.
- The coverage limits, eligibility requirements, and claim procedures may change over time. The terms in effect at the time of a booking’s confirmation govern any claim arising from that booking.
- Catalani Locations may terminate or suspend a Host’s participation in the Guarantee at any time for violations of the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or these Guarantee Terms.
- Hosts may not assign or transfer their rights under the Guarantee without prior written consent from Catalani Locations.
- All determinations made by Catalani Locations in connection with the Guarantee — including eligibility, approved amounts, and whether payment is made — are final and binding.
