General Questions

What is Catalani Locations?

Catalani Locations is a premier, curated location scout platform based in Miami, Florida. We connect property owners with film production companies, photographers, event planners, advertising agencies, and creative professionals from Miami and across Latin America.

Unlike other platforms that accept any property, we rigorously vet every listing to ensure it meets our 5-star criteria for production and event use.

We serve clients from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, and beyond β€” relying on us for locations, local knowledge, permits, vendors, and hospitality.

Who can list a property?

Anyone can submit a listing β€” homeowners, business owners, yacht owners, classic car collectors. You are not limited to just homes and commercial spaces.

We accept: residential homes, commercial spaces, warehouses, outdoor spaces, boats, airplanes, unique watercraft, classic cars, and more.

However, submitting does not automatically grant Verified status. Our team reviews each listing against our standards before it is shown to professional clients.

What types of projects use listings on this platform?

Our platform serves a wide range of creative and professional use cases:

Films, novelas, TV shows, music videos, commercials
Photo shoots, modeling shoots, advertising campaigns
Weddings, bridal showers, corporate events, brand activations
Yoga & fitness classes, podcast recordings, studio sessions

Clients include advertising agencies, marketing agencies, modeling agencies, influencers, photographers, videographers, event planners, and corporate teams.

Do I need a Verified listing to appear in searches?

Submitting a listing does not automatically grant Verified βœ”οΈ status. Our Location Scouts and Managers review properties against specific client criteria before they appear to professional agencies.

We highly recommend professional photos, video, and ideally a 3D virtual tour to maximize your chances of being Verified and Featured.

Featured listings are marketed directly to our Latin American and international clients β€” giving you significantly more exposure than a standard listing.

Privacy & Data

Is my personal information shared publicly?

No personal information is ever shared on your listing or provided to any producer without your explicit consent.

Your listing displays your first name, photos and videos of your space, property features, and a neighborhood map β€” never your exact address.

You are in full control of what appears on your profile and can update or remove it at any time.

Can a production company contact me directly?

Production companies and event planners can send booking inquiries through our secure platform messaging. Your contact details β€” phone, email, or exact address β€” are never revealed until you approve a booking.

How does the messaging system protect me?

Messages are moderated and censored until a producer submits a showing request with required documents. Sharing contact info in messages violates our Terms & Conditions and results in removal or a platform ban.

Messages are only uncensored once you accept a showing request β€” at that point, all contact information is released so you can coordinate directly.

Never share your address, last name, phone, email, workplace, or nearby landmarks before a request is accepted.

What ID verification is required from renters?

Clients must provide a valid ID before any showing or booking. The name on their ID must match the booking agreement. This verification is mandatory and protects both parties.

Payments

What will I get paid for hosting a production or event?

Your rate is entirely up to you. You decide the minimum you’ll accept and all bookings are optional β€” you are never obligated to accept any request.

The daily rate for filming is often comparable to a full month’s mortgage. Rates vary by production type, duration, crew size, and your property’s features.

We encourage flexibility β€” evaluating requests case-by-case can lead to more bookings and lasting relationships with agencies and production companies.

Can I charge a security deposit?

Yes. You can set a security deposit at whatever amount you feel covers potential minor damage or overtime. It is returned to the renter after the booking once you verify everything is in order.

Note: The security deposit is not subject to the 9% platform fee β€” it is collected and held separately and returned in full if no claim is filed.
Can I adjust my pricing over time?

Yes β€” you can update pricing at any time from your listing dashboard, along with availability, blocked dates, and house rules. You are always in complete control of your listing.

Fees & Listing

Is listing my property free? What are the platform fees?

Creating and maintaining your listing is completely free. No sign-up fees, no monthly charges, no cost just to be listed. Platform fees only apply when a booking is confirmed:

The fee applies to the hourly rate + cleaning fee + add-ons. Security deposits are excluded β€” they are collected and returned separately with no platform fee applied.

We only earn when you earn. No booking, no fee.

What do I need to create a listing?

At minimum: photos of your space, a brief description of its features, and your desired rate. Optionally add video, a 3D virtual tour, and a detailed amenities and house rules list.

The more detail and professional imagery you provide, the higher your chances of being Verified and Featured β€” giving you maximum visibility to our professional clients.
Are there membership or upgrade options?

Yes β€” Host Upgrade packages allow you to feature your listing and submit it directly to our Latin American production companies and professional agencies, who receive curated updates of Premium listings.

Note: A Host Upgrade increases visibility but is not a guarantee of booking results.

Premium members also get discounts on professional photography and 3D virtual tour services, plus travel agency partner discounts.

Protection

How am I protected from damages, accidents, or fires?

Every person or company booking your property must be fully insured and provide a certificate of insurance listing your property on their policy before access is granted.

You are named on their insurance policy covering $1 million in general liability before anyone steps foot on your property. This is mandatory for all bookings β€” no exceptions.

You may also charge a security deposit for minor damage or overtime, returned after your post-event inspection. We strongly recommend documenting your property’s condition before and after every booking with photos and video.

What happens if damage exceeds the security deposit?

Since renters are required to list your property on their insurance policy, damage beyond the deposit can be addressed through their insurance claim. Always document your property’s condition with photos and video before and after every booking.

Our Property Damage Guarantee may also provide additional reimbursement for covered damage up to $25,000 per booking.
Can I deny a booking request?

Yes β€” always. You are never obligated to accept any booking or viewing request. Ask questions before accepting: how many people, how long, which rooms, what type of production.

Bookings

How does the booking process work?

A renter finds your listing and sends a booking inquiry through the platform. You review it, ask questions through secure messaging, then accept or decline. Once accepted, the booking agreement and payment are processed through the platform.

Before any visit or production, the renter must submit a valid ID and proof of insurance listing your property.

After the booking, both parties can leave reviews β€” which affect future visibility and standing on the platform.

Can I manage my availability and block off dates?

Yes β€” from your host dashboard you can manage your calendar, block off dates, set minimum booking durations, and update availability at any time. You are always in full control of when your space is available.

What questions should I ask before accepting a booking?

Before accepting any booking or showing, we recommend asking:

β€’ How many hours will you be filming / how long is the event?
β€’ How many people will be attending β€” cast, crew, guests?
β€’ Which rooms will be used and how?
β€’ What type of production or event is this?
β€’ Do you have a certificate of insurance ready?

Provide your house rules and a list of any off-limits areas. Let clients know about pets on the property. Be professional, thorough, and timely β€” it protects you and leads to better reviews.

For Hosts

How do I edit my listing’s availability or prices?

Sign in, open your user drop-down menu, and select Listings. Click the edit icon on your listing, then click either the Calendar or Edit tab to make changes. You can update pricing, availability, description, and photos at any time.

What happens if my rating drops?

Only hosts with positive ratings are accepted to showcase and feature their properties. If a rating slips below our standards, the listing may be removed from the platform.

Maintaining a 5-star rating keeps you listed, increases visibility, and makes you eligible for Featured status and direct outreach to our professional clients.
Can someone represent my property on my behalf?

Yes β€” Hosts may privately arrange for one of our professional Location Scouts or Location/Event Managers to co-host their property on their behalf. Any such arrangement is a private agreement exclusively between the Host and Co-Host.

For Renters

How do I find and book a location?

Browse our Cata-Log using filters for activity type, location, size, and amenities. Each listing includes photos, a description, and a neighborhood map. When you find a property that fits your needs, send a booking inquiry through secure platform messaging.

You can also Post a Request to the Request Bulletin β€” describe your needs and let our vetted community come to you with offers.
What do I need to provide before a booking?

You must provide a valid ID and a certificate of insurance listing the property on your policy before any showing or production begins. The name on your ID must match the booking agreement.

A $1 million general liability insurance policy naming the property owner is mandatory for all bookings β€” no exceptions.
What is the renter platform fee?

Renters pay a 9% platform service fee on the commissionable total (hourly rate + cleaning fee + add-ons) at the time of booking. This fee covers platform maintenance, verification services, secure payment processing, and curation of our vetted location inventory.

Security deposits are excluded from the 9% fee β€” they are held separately and returned in full after your booking if no damage claim is filed.
